International generic name Tilidine
Drug form and composition Solution, oral drops. 1 ml (10%) solution contains 100 mg Tilidine hydrochloride.
Indications Valoron is used in severe pains related to malignant diseases; spastic states, associated with severe pain originating from the gastrointestinal tract, urinary and biliary tracts; postoperative pain, neuralgia, and particularly neuralgia of the trigeminal nerve.
Dosage and administration In the adults, the drug is used orally in dose of 5 - 20 drops 3 - 4 times daily. In children from 2 - 14 years, the dose is 1 drop per 1 year of age, 3 - 4 times daily. In children between 11 and 14 years, the dose should not exceed 10 drops.
Contraindications Hypersensitivity to the drug, pregnancy and lactation, renal failure.
Special warnings and precautions Valoron should be used in lower doses in patients with kidney diseases, because the elimination is disturbed. In acute myocardial infarction patients, it must be used cautiously. Alcohol should be avoided during the treatment with this drug. It must not be used during car driving and working with machines.
Drug interactions Valoron augments the central depressive action of alcohol, analeptics, analgesic agents, barbiturates, and tranquilizers.
Adverse reactions Headache; dizziness; orthostatic collapse; nausea; vomiting.
Pharmacological mechanisms Valoron is a synthetic narcotic analgesic agent of the group of phenylaminocyclohexanes. It exerts powerful analgesic action against different types of pain. Generally, the efficiency of the drug in extero- and proprioceptive pain is higher compared to the nonnarcotic analgesics. Its analgesic activity, as well as a number of other effects, are related to the activation of specific opioid receptors in the central nervous system, which regulate anti-nociception. It also exerts a spasmolytic action.
