Drug form and composition Gel. One gram gel contains 10 mg Escin; 10 mg Buphenine hydrochloride.
Indications Phlebescin is used as a single agent or as a part of the complex treatment of varices, phlebits, edema associated with thrombophlebitis, contusions in cases of traumas. Phlebescin can be used for prevention in cases of pain and heaviness in the legs during pregnancy, static position, after surgery, etc.
Dosage and administration Phlebescin is intended for topical application. It should be placed in a thin layer on the skin in the affected area and around the zone, 2 to 4 times daily.
Contraindications Phlebescin is not used in cases of hypersensitivity to some of the product components, eczema and open wounds.
Special warnings and precautions Massage and direct warming of the zone after the application should be avoided. Phlebescin is tolerated very well, but in some cases in more sensitive patients, superficial, most commonly allergic reaction, can occur. These changes disappear after the discontinuation of the drug. There are no data for damaging effect in the fetus, as well as for elimination in the breast milk, in cases of topical treatment with Phlebescin. However, it is recommended to avoid the use on a large area and for a prolonged period during pregnancy and breast-feeding.
Drug interactions There are no clinically significant interactions with other drugs.
Adverse reactions In predisposed patients, local effects due to hypersensitivity (mild itching or transitory rash) can be observed very rarely.
Pharmacological mechanisms Phlebescin was developed according to an original technology using the following active components: escin extracted from the plant Aesculus Hipotantus (wild chestnut), and the β-agonist Nilidrin (Buphenin hydrochloride). The combination of the effects of the two active ingredients is used with success for the prevention and treatment of peripheral vascular disorders with variable causes. Phlebescin gel contains as subsidiary substances lavender and pine-tree oil, which improve the consistency of the gel and contribute for easier application and better absorption in the tissues.
