International generic name Sodium chloride
Drug form and composition Solution for injection. One ampoule of 5 ml (0.9%) contains 45 mg Sodium chloride (9 mg/ml). One ampoule of 10 ml (0.9%) contains 90 mg Sodium chloride (9 mg/ml).
Indications The isotonic solution is applied as a solvent for preparation or dilution of parenterally applied medicines.
Dosage and administration The isotonic solution of sodium chloride is applied as an intravenous injection in quantities, sufficient for the particular case.
Contraindications The solution should not be applied in hypernatremia and hyperchloremia.
Special warnings and precautions The solution should be used with care in heart failure, generalized edemas, pulmonary edema; arterial hypertension; eclampsia; severe renal failure.
Drug interactions Sodium chloride increases solubility and absorption of the mercury dichloride. Sodium and lithium ions are reabsorbed concurently in the renal tubule, which may enhance the toxicity of the sodium* ions.
Adverse reactions In correct application no adverse effect was seen.
Pharmacological mechanisms The sodium ion plays an important role in maintaining of the osmotic balance of the tissue liquids. Its concentration in the blood is almost 0.5%, which maintains the osmotic pressure of the blood constant. The sodium ion is the most important extracellular ion, related to the transmembrane action potential realization.
Supplied 50 ampoules of 5 ml (45 mg). 50 ampoules of 10 ml (90 mg).
