Drug form and composition Ointment. 1 gr ointment contains 0.05 g Undecylenic acid and 0.2 g Zinc undecylenic.
Indications The preparation is indicated in epidermal mycosis (interdigital and inguinal) and candidiasis.
Dosage and administration Affected regions are treated 1-2 times daily. It is advisable the treatment to continue one month. The treatment should be continued 2-4 weeks after the clinical manifestations are resolved with 1-2 applications weekly.
Contraindications The preparation should not be used in hypersensitivity to any of active constituents of the preparation and on children younger than 2 years.
Special warnings and precautions Mycodermin should not be applied in the eyes and in opened wounds. It should be used with care in patients with diabetes.
Drug interactions No clinically significant adverse drug interactions were seen so far.
Adverse reactions In local application in some cases the preparation may cause itching, redness, burning, and rashes.
Pharmacological mechanisms Mycodermin ointment is an antimycotic preparation with broad spectrum of action for dermatology use. Undecylenic acid and its zinc salt are active in superficial mycoses, caused by dermatophytes, yeast, moulds, and some Gram-positive microorganisms. The fungicid effect of the preparation is due to the pathogen fungi lipid exchange deterioration.
