Pharmacological mechanisms Deflamol possesses a prominent epithelium-stimulating effect and in burns of first, second and third degree contributes to formation of a soft cicatrix with no keloids. In local application the combined preparation Deflamol exerts a favorable effect on the affected skin region, reducing the erythema, swelling, and improving the regenerative capabilities of the epithelium. Vitamin A is of great importance in providing the normal functioning of the epithelium. It participates in protein exchange of the skin and mucous membranes, as well as in synthesis of the visual pigment rhodopsin. It possesses a prominent effect on the regeneration processes in the skin and mucous membranes, mainly by activating the protein synthesis and metabolism in the epithelial cells. The main physiologic function of the vitamin D is related to the calcium-phosphate metabolism in the organism. Vitamin D improves the cell membrane permeability to calcium ions, stimulates the specific protein synthesis, necessary in the gastrointestinal resorption of the calcium, participates in transportation to and deposition of the calcium in the bones. God-liver oil contains vitamin A and vitamin D2, as well as glycerides of the oleic, palmitic and stearic acids; bromine, iodine, and phosphate traces; cholesterol and other ingredients. Its action depends mainly on the vitamin A and D, and no saturated fatty acid content. Peru balsamum possesses softening and weak antiseptic effects.
