-
- COMPOSITION:
Promethazine hydrochloride 25mg/1ml
50mg/2ml in one ampoule.
PHARMACOLOGICAL ACTION:
Antiallersin is similar in its chemical structure and partially
in its pharmacological action to the neuroleptic Chlorazan. Its
best manifested property is the strong antihistamine activity,
coupled with its antiallergic action. Furthermore, it has a
considerable effect on CNS; it has a strong sedative action,
enhances the action of narcotics, sopofifies, spasmolytics and
topical anesthetics, decreases body temperature, prevents and
stops vomiting, copes with hiccup; it has a moderate peripheral
and central chlinolytic action, and a pronounced adrenolytic
action.
INDICATIONS:
Allergic skin diseases urticaria of different genesis, allergic
dermatitis, eczema; drug allergy with skin manifestations.
Allergic diseases of the respiratory pathways: allergic rhinitis and
sinusitis, spastic bronchitis and bronchial asthma, hay fever.
General allergic reaction: anaphylactic shock, serum sickness,
angioneurotic edema, Quincke's edema.
Sea and air sickness, Meniere's disease, chorea, encephalitis in
surgery as one of the components of the so-called "lytic
cocktail", vomiting of various origin, in combination with
spasmolytics in biliary and renal colic, for enhancement of the
action of analgesics.
CONTRAINDICATIONS:
Due to its marked sedative (and slight soporific) effect, it must
not be prescribed to individuals whose work requires sharp attention
(drivers, engine drivers, etc.) or to persons with alcohol
intoxication. |
SIDE EFFECTS:
Painful infiltrations can be formed after intramuscular
administration, after intravenous injection - strong and abrupt
reduction of the arterial pressure.
PRECAUTIONS:
To avoid the irritating effect on mucosae and skin, caution should
be exercised when administering the drug (proper ventilation, rubber
gloves).
DRUG INTERACTIONS:
Promethazine potentiates the sedative effect of the agents
inhibiting the CNS (alcohol, general anesthetics, analgesics), the
anticholinergic action of cholinolytics and tricyclic
antidepressants; its vasopressor effect can be intensified by
MAO-inhibitors.
DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION:
Parenterally - 0.025 intramuscularly or intravenously as a component
of the "lytic cocktail" - 0.05.
MEDICINAL FORM AND PACKAGE:
