StockNo Product description
EB0280-424-13 MONISID AMPOULE 1 ML
EB0280-424-33 MONISID TABL 20 MG X 50

COMPOSITION:
Isosorbide-5-mononitrate 10 ml/1 ml in one ampoule and 20 mg in one tablet.

ACTION:
Monisid is a nitro-preparation with prolonged action. It relaxes the smooth muscle cells of the venous vessels. According to this action mechanism, mainly the pre-load of the heart is decreased, the post-load being less reduced. It dilated the coronary vessels and increases the coronaryreserve. The relief of the myocardial work leads to decrease of oxygen consumption by the myocardium. The myorelaxant action of Monisid, as well as that of the other nitrate, are assumed to be due to the increase of guanylate cyclase activity predominantly in the venous and coronary vessels.

PHARMACOKINETICS:
Its action occurs quickly and lasts 8-10 h. its biological half-life is 4-5 h.

INDICATIONS:
For prophylaxis and treatment of all forms of ischemic heart disease; for treatment of post-infarction conditions, especially with concominant hypotonia. In parallel with other drugs for treatment of chronic cardiac failure, obliterating endarteritis, angiospastic retinitis; in hypertension in the region of pulmonary and coronary circulation.

CONTRAINDICATIONS:
Cerebral hemorrhages, cerebral traumatic injuries, severe hypertension, individual intolerance to nitrates.

SIDE EFFECTS:
More expressed symptoms of a vasodilatory character may be observed in some patients, especially in the beginning of the treatment: erythema of face, fatigue, dizziness and nausea; short-lived headache.

DRUG INTERACTIONS:
The simultaneous application of antihypertensive drugs or psychotherapeutics with monosid may potentiate its action. Alcohol consumption increases the side effects of the preparation. Acetylsalicylic acid decreases its effect.

DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION:
Monisid is administered orally. The usual dose for the less severe cases of ischemic disease is 20 mg 2-3 times daily. In more serious cases the dose is increased to 40 mg, 2-3 times daily.
