BROMATUM AMP 1 G/10ML (10%) |
-
- COMPOSITION:
Sodium bromide 500 mg/5 ml in one ampoule
ACTION:
Sodium bromide, similar to the other bromides, reduces both the
spontaneous and the reflex excitability of the brain and spinal
cord. After its administration, the irritability threshold of the
central nervous system increases many times (especially that of the
psychomotor area). The mechanism of the pharmocological effect of
sodium bromide is based on its ability to enhance selectively the
processes of inhibition. Like calcium bromide, it shows a marked
ionic antagonism against sokium chloride. Hence the decreased
chloric content in the organism as a result of limited
administration of salt potentiates the action of sodium bromide.
INDICATIONS:
Increased irritability, neurotic insomnia, neurasthenia, hysteria,
neurosis, psychosis, hypertension, chorea and epilepsy.
CONTRAINDICATIONS:
Tuberculosis, generalized atherosclerosis, asthenia, cachexia,
diarrhea, vomiting, anemia, nephritis, convulsive state (after
strychnine intoxication or tetanus). |
SIDE EFFECTS:
Prolonged treatment may induce the so-called "bromide
saturation" of the organism with inflammation of the nasal
mucosa and eyes, bronchitis with cough, skin eruptions, general
depression, drowsiness, apathy, ataxia.
PRECAUTIONS:
For symptoms of "bromide saturation" the patients should
take 10-20 g of sodium chloride with more water.
DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION:
One ampoule of 5 ml or 10 ml, according to need, is injected
intravenously.
MEDICINAL FORM AND PACKAGE:
Ampoules of 500 mg/5 ml and 1 g/10 ml (10 %) in packs of 10 and 50.

At moderate temperature (15-30 C) in a place protected from light.
