Isonicotinoyl-hydrazide 100 mg in one tablet

ACTION:
Effective antitubercular drug with a very low toxicity and a narrow spectrum of bactericide action. Rimicid dilates the peripheral and coronary vessels, reduces the blood pressure, improves the function of the gastrointestinal tract and excites the appetite.

The maximum concentration of the drug in blood plasma is attained within about 1-2 h after its intake and its plasma concentration is reduced to 50 % within 6 h. It is excreted via the kidneys predominantly, unchanged in 10 to 15 % and the rest of the drug undergoes biological transformation and is eliminated with the urine as metabolites.

INDICATIONS:
It is administered as a basic tuberculostatic in all forms of tuberculosis. It can be used for chemoprophylaxis of tuberculosis in patients susceptible to that disease (diabetics and patients on systematic corticosteroid therapy), or in patients with past history of tuberculosis. Rimicid can be combined with all other tuberculostatics.

CONTRAINDICATIONS:
Epilepsy, convulsions in mentally disturbed patients, lesions of the optic nerve and polineuritis.

SIDE EFFECTS:
Headache, tinnitus, lower systolic blood pressure, paresthesia, insomnia, memory disturbances, neuritis, ataxia. Very rarely allergic reactions, agranulocytosis, eosinophilia and chemoglobinemia can be observed.
