StockNo Product description
EB0280-401-04 EDTA-CALCIUM DINATRIUM AMPOULE 10 ML 10% SOLUTION

COMPOSITION:
Calcium disodium edetate 10 % ml solution in one ampoule

ACTION:
Antidote. The disodium salt of EDTA-calcium is a compound from the group of complexons and forms stable water-soluble complexes with the ions of heavy and rare metals, which are less toxic and quickly excreted with the urine. About 60-90 % of the drug is excreted after 6 h and up to 95% after 24 h. Calcium, included in the composition of the drug, is substituted by more stable ions and metals (lead, throium, etc.) but not by barium and stontium, etc.
Besides as an antidote the drug is used as a calcium agent in hypofunction of the parathyroid gland, hypocalcemia, etc.

INDICATIONS:
Acute and chronic intoxications with heavy and rare metals and their salts: lead, mercury, cadmium, uranium, copper, cobalt, manganese, chromium, gold, zinc, etc.; lead encephalopathy in children; intoxication with tetraethyl and ethylated benzine; contamination of the organism with radioactive metals; as calcium drug in hypofunction of the parathyroid gland, osteomalacia and other diseases associated with hypocalcemia.

CONTRAINDICATIONS:
Severe damage of kidneys (nephritis, nephrosis), liver diseases with disordered function.

SIDE EFFECTS:
Toxic reactions have been observed with a dose of 2 g or more, daily. It causes toxic nephropathy, reduces the blood hemoglobin and the iron level in the serum, as well as the lever of vitamin B12. To avoid these injuries, vitamin B12 is recommended to be included in the treatment and iron-containing drugs - in case of long-term administration.

DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION:
An antidote in intravenous drip infusion - 1 g from the drug (one ampoule 10 % 10 ml) in 250-500 ml sterile physiological solution or 5% glucose solution, with duration of the infusion one hour. This dose can be administered twice daily for 3-4 days, followed by a 2-day rest. Whenever necessary, another course of 3-4 days can be performed. The maximum daily dose for adults is 2 g, administered twice daily in intakes of 1 g; mean therapeutic dose - 0.02g/kg weight. For children - single daily dose not more than 0.5 g (5 ml 10 % solution) per 15kg body weight, twice daily. Gastric lavage is performed before and after the intake in case of oral administration of the antidote.

MEDICINAL FORM AND PACKAGE:
