ACTION
Nivabex is a combination of Nivalin (Galantamine) and B group vitamins.
Its pharmacological action is expressed in improvements of the functional
activity of the nervous system and metabolite processes in the body.
Nivalin is a strong reversible inhibitor of the cholinesterase stimulating
nerve impulses in the neuromuscular synapses and the synapses of the
Central and Peripheral nervous systems.
Vitamin B1 following its transformation in pyrophosphate as a coenzyme
participates in the metabolism of the carbohydrates, proteins and the
synthesis of nucleonic acids. It facilitates the transmission of the
action potentials in the peripheral nerves and the neuromuscular
transmission.
Vitamin B2 is included in the composition of many oxidative enzymes and
participates in the metabolism of carbohydrates, proteins and fats. It
plays important role in the normal functions of the eye, ligaments and
skin.
Vitamin B6 in the body is transformed into pyridoxal phosphate and plays
the role of coenzyme in multiple enzyme reactions.
Vitamin PP (Nicotinic acid and Nicotinamide) is included in the
composition of codehydrogenases, participates in the enzyme reactions of
dehydration. Improves the functions of the skin and mucosa, avoids the
origination of pellgra and other lesions of the skin, gastrointestinal
disorders and damage of the nervous system. It intensifies the
detoxification function of organism and has a vasodilatory action.
Calcium pantothenate is included in the coenzyme A and participates in the
metabolism of carbohydrates and lipids in the synthesis of steroidal
hormones and acetylcholine, as well as in the energy facilitation of the
compensating functions of the myocardium.
Nivabex possesses activity that is expressed in:
- Improvement of the condition of the nervous system
- Antagonizing action with respect to various agents with damaging effect
on the nervous system
- Anti-inflammatory and analgesic action
INDICATIONS:
Poliomyelitis - immediately after bringing down the temperature during
both restorative and residual periods. Myasthenia, myopathies, motor and
sensory disturbances connected with diseases and traumatic injuries of the
nervous system, polyneuritis, radiculitis, radiculoneuritis, myelitis;
after-effects of diseases of the cerebral vessels; lower tone of the
smooth muscles of the gastrointestinal and urinary tracts.
CONTRAINDICATIONS:
Bronchial asthma, bradycardia, stenocardia, cardiac decompensation,
epilepsy, hyperkinesias
SIDE EFFECTS:
In adequate doses, the preparation is well tolerated. Overdosage and
individually increased sensitivity may cause abundant salivation,
perspiration, vomiting or dizziness. If such symptoms appear, the daily
dose is reduced or the treatment is discontinued for 2-3 days, to be
continued later with lower doses. If necessary, atropine may be used as an
antidote.
